Custom gate systems

Gate systems planned for reliable access across the Front Range.

Blue Squirrel plans pedestrian, driveway, estate, equipment, and commercial gates as part of the complete fence and access system. Opening geometry, structure, hardware, traffic, grade, controls, and future maintenance are considered together.

Fence gate questions

What determines the right gate for an opening?

Opening width, traffic, grade, wind, material, frequency of use, security, available swing or slide space, automation, and the adjoining fence all affect the right gate system.

Why are gate posts and footings so important?

A gate places concentrated leverage on its supporting posts. Post size, footing, frame rigidity, hinges, rollers, and latching must be designed for the gate’s weight and use.

Can an existing gate be automated?

Possibly, but the gate must first be checked for alignment, rigidity, travel, posts, and safe geometry. An operator also requires power, entrapment protection, safety devices, controls, and emergency access planning.

How can gate sag be prevented?

Use an appropriately sized frame, diagonal or engineered reinforcement, structural posts, quality hinges, and realistic opening widths. Drainage, frost movement, wind, and user habits also affect performance.

Can a new gate match an existing fence?

Usually, although weathering, discontinued products, and coating differences can limit an exact match. The frame, infill, profile, finish, and hardware can still be coordinated intentionally.
