Blue Squirrel designs wood pedestrian and driveway gates around frame stiffness, post support, hardware, privacy, grade, and the visual rhythm of the adjoining fence. The opening is engineered as a moving structure, not a leftover panel.

We measure the opening, confirm clearances and swing, specify support and hardware, then coordinate the gate pattern with the surrounding wood fence.
We review the fence line, grade, access, gates, drainage, privacy, pets, and the way the property is used.
We confirm materials, heights, posts, gates, removals, finish details, responsibilities, and pricing in writing.
The crew lays out the work, installs the system, checks alignment and hardware, and keeps the work area organized.
We test gates, review the completed fence, explain care and warranty information, and document any final adjustments.
Width depends on frame construction, infill weight, post strength, hinge capacity, and frequency of use. Very wide openings may perform better as double gates or with a steel frame.
Sometimes. Hinge adjustment, hardware, bracing, or frame reinforcement may restore service, but a twisted or deteriorated gate may be better rebuilt. The posts and footing should be checked first.
A steel frame can improve rigidity for wide, heavy, or frequently used gates while allowing wood infill to match the fence. It is not necessary for every small pedestrian gate.
Proper post and footing design, a rigid frame, appropriate bracing, quality hinges, and enough planned clearance are essential. Drainage, frost movement, and changing grade should also be considered.
Usually, though new cedar will look different from weathered boards at first. Board profile, spacing, trim, hardware, and finish can be coordinated so the gate belongs with the existing fence.
